Top-of-the-line noir melodrama featuring Van Heflin, Barbara Stanwyck, Lizabeth Scott, and Kirk Douglas. Don't miss it.

Subject: I really wanted to like this movie BUT...
My original review never got posted so here's a recap. First of all Lizabeth Scott does a horrible imitation of Lauren Bacall. I mean, what was she trying to do here? She was awful. The movie is about 30 minutes too long and just keeps adding more and more scenes which add nothing to the movie. Barbara Stanwyck was Barbara Stanwyck. She was wasted here as was Van Heflin and Kirk Douglas although they did admiral work with what they had. When Kirk Douglas was on screen...fabulous! An under-appreciated actor IMO. This could have been such a fabulous movie ESPECIALLY because of the ending. But for me, it never took off.

Subject: What is Jazzfan on about?
I thought it a good idea to write about Strange Love rather than A Walk in the Sun (a good movie by the way).
Heflin and Stanwyck at the peak of their powers.Douglas breaking through. This is in the top 20 of great film noir.

Subject: "Butt Me!"
STRANGE LOVE is a follow-up to A WALK IN THE SUN by the great director Lewis Milestone. Even the best of them have put out dogs but he bounced right back with MARTHA. In a WALK IN THE SUN, it is hilarious to watch actor Richard Conte find himself a fellow soldier, make him his bitch, have him walk behind him and carry his cigarettes for him. When Conte wanted a smoke all he say: “butt me!” I tried to watch this again about a month ago and couldn’t stand it, it is just that bad. MARTHA is a much better movie without all the stupid dialogue found in A “TALK” IN THE SUN.
